I'm not sure this is the right place, as this is very ooc, but it does pertain to the game itself, So I think I'm ibn the right place?

Anyway! Sorry. Hi there! I'm Vee, Nice to meet you all through the forum! I just moved into the area, and found out about you guys. I am fairly new to larping in general, but what I have done, I have loved. Your group seems really fun and exciting, and I just wanted to say Hello! and I hope to be seeing you all soon.

I was wondering perhaps, if there were any tips or things you guys think I should know, when creating a character, or good sites for Make-up/boffer purchase. I have made my own ultralights for a different larp before, but it never hurts to support businesses that cater to our type of entertainment!

Anyway. I am eager to make some new friends, feel free to message me! Now to tackle these rules, and see if I can come up with a fun person to play! :D

Hello Vee! I'm Kasi. Welcome!

I've been LARPing for about 13 years and playing in Kishar for 3-4. Kishar is a small LARP with very fun and dedicated players, and I really enjoy it. I hope you do too! The setting is interesting and the people are pretty cool. :)

For purchasing boffer weapons, I prefer Many of us have purchased LARP weapons there. They have good prices and good quality. Calamacil makes pretty weapons but we typically find them too hard. Kishar is a lightest-touch system, and so we aim to feel weapon swings but not bruise anyone!

For makeup, it depends on what you want to play. The same website I mentioned above has some makeup and prosthetics. For large areas of color I personally prefer Ben Nye Aquacake. I like to frequent local costume stores when possible.

For character creation, I would brainstorm a couple of ideas and run them by us here, the ST staff, or our character creations consultants (listed in the rulebook) for feedback and suggestions. Then I recommend working on the character questionnaire a bit at a time to flesh out the concept a bit. The rulebook, event photos, and FaceBook group have pictures for costume inspiration. The general feel is Arabic/Asian, but we try to avoid anything too stereotypical or offensive. For example, if you want to have a vaguely Japanese-like character, hakama, kimono, etc. are fine, but no anime swords please.

In terms of roles, I think we're all set for Menders and Shamans at the moment, and we could really use more Guardians, but ultimately, pick something with which you can have fun! :)

I was actually looking at Guardians and Aggressors. I'm kind of a large guy, (( well, width wise hehe)) So I make a good target, might as well have the HP to make use of that! :D Thank you so much for the information, I do very much appreciate it! I'll see if I can find the facebook group, and message you guys there as well ^^ I am very eager to meet everyone, and have lots of fun!
