COVID 19 Vaccination Rules (Last updated 2024)
We follow CDC guidelines when possible. Our goal is to prevent Kishar becomming a vector for COVID transmission, and to keep our players safe and healthy. When possible, try to self-quarantine a few days before an event to give any possible symptoms time to become obvious. If you are sick, symptomatic for COVID or have been asked to quarantine due to exposure, PLEASE STAY HOME. Nothing that happens at this game is worth risking the health of someone else. Embodying Mudita means having concern for other people's health and safety.
Required COVID Vaccination
Players must have received the most recently approved COVID booster: CDC Guidelines for Booster shots. Most insurance providers will reduce the cost to you significantly (or entirely). Adults who are uninsured or underinsured may be eligible to receive a free COVID-19 vaccine through the Indiana Adult Vaccine Program. Find participating health care providers on the Indiana Department of Health’s website. People who have medical reasons that prevent them from being vaccinated should not play Kishar. We try our best to be accommodating of people of all abilities and health concerns, including the immunocompromised, which is why we take vaccination so seriously.
If you have had COVID recently, CDC recommendations suggest you wait 2 months before getting a booster shot. It is not dangerous to get a booster shot earlier than this. Rather, their intent is to spread out the period of time in which you are most resistant to reinfection. If waiting for this 2 month period would put you in violation of Kishar's requirement that you have the most recent COVID shot, please email the Organizers the last date on which you tested positive for COVID or had a fever/symptoms. We will consider you "compliant" with the policy until your 2 months are up, at which point we will require proof of vaccination. For obvious reasons, lying about a recent COVID infection or the use of this exemption as a means to avoid vaccination will be considered a serious infraction that will likely result in a game ban.
Email Proof of Vaccination
Players must send the Organizers proof of vaccination electronically, before showing up to an Event. Please send a scan of your vaccination card, pharmacy confirmation, or equivalent medical record ("Date of Birth" may be omitted) to the Organizer email (kisharmarshals(at)gmail.com) prior to attending an Event. We will keep a list of all players who are compliant with this policy, but we will not otherwise retain records beyond what's already retained via sending an email. If you don't want to send this in the clear you may encrypt a copy and send decryption keys via a separate medium, such as Discord. If your actual name isn't your legal name, please let us know so we can use the correct name for you at events.
Mask Wearing
There is no mask mandate at Kishar. However, we encourage anyone who wants to mask to do so, and recommend N95/KN95 masks. If you want to mask, bring a new mask for every day of the Event. Disposable masks will be available at game when supplies allow. Being rude to people who are masking is not acceptable.
